The
3 hour sessions
are designed to allow the children to "Learn Through Play".
Each session is made up of:
Free choice play
This is where the children are free to choose any
activity available, for example outdoor play, computers, puzzles and games, threading,
role play, home corner, small world and drawing.
Art and design
The children are encouraged to express themselves
through painting, printing, gluing, modeling, collage work, playdough,
clay and wood.
Assembly song and news time
Assembly time is when we all come together to welcome
each other and sing our "Good Morning" song. We take
the register and share news. We learn new songs each term for
our end of term Assembly, which focusses on Christmas, Easter
and Summer. Everyone is invited to see the children perform and
join in with the celebrations.
Outdoor exploration and gardening
We have an outdoor classroom environment in the church nursery garden. We have two raised vegetable gardens and several fruit trees which the children have planted and are responsible for.
The outdoor classroom was made possible thanks to a grant from the Local Network Fund for Children and Young People,
Our Scandanavian all-weather suits were purchased through the generosity of our local Tesco Express.
Musical movement, drama and role play
We all join together and encourage the children
to express themselves as they move to a variety of musical pieces.
Story time and drama
We end our sessions with a quiet time in the Book Corner for the younger children, and a story or drama for the older children in
another room.
